Letter recieved 2-28-11

Mom,

What up? So this week there is no holidays which is awesome means were able to email. Well this week has been pretty awesome can't there has been a ton of snow storms which always makes it nice and slippery. My companion is horrible with balance so he is always flat on his back then it takes him like ten minutes to get up. I mean he like just straight up flys in the air like both feet right from underneath him and bam on his back. Well needless to say I end up hiding in my jacket and laughing very quietly. So he doesn't think I am a complete jerk but I can't really help him up. And then here is the best the next day he always wakes up wobbling and grunting. I am like ibuprofen will help, naw I am good. So things have been quite comical lately with him just eating it a lot. The best thing is now he is super cautious so he like wobbles on the ice like an old man. Ok on more funny of him eating it. So this one came when three really attractive girls drove by and wave. So I wave back so does he but the next think I know he is on his back I am like Elder come on it was just wave you shouldn't let the girls knock you off your feet so easily. He didn't think it was as funny I was like Elder really no one cares your on your mission they already think your weird. The fall just may of added a bit to it.

So this week has been a lot knocking slash getting snowed in which is always boring. Anyways so things are going a little slower here and well its hard to get a hold of people here. But things will start to turn around. So this week in church we sang I love to see the temple. Have not song that song in a super long time. And to be honest in Primary well we all know I didn't sing. The word in the song are awesome though in one of the last lines it says it is my sacred duty. I was thinking about it and not only is it our sacred duty to prepare but to go. Before my mission I didn't go much not to mention realize it was a sacred duty to prepare. So the reason is its the University of God we must go one because its a time to learn and bring yourself closer to God. And second the work is great in there and it must always go on. So think about the temple when was the last time you went. Try to go more. In it you will find lives greatest answers as well as peace from every care. Anyways enough with Pasteur Davis. I will let you go love ya be safe.

Love,

Elder Davis.

Letter recieved 2-22-11

Mom,

So that is cool that Lanae was able to give her farewell I am sure she
will enjoy her mission.
So that would be awesome if the Enos came on the cruise.I am sure a lot of people want to meet the one whose companion shot a kid with the blow dart. I actually was talking to an Elder who I told that story to and when I told him he was laughing so
hard that he couldn't´t talk at the next door nor could he stop laughing
he was leaning over the stair well laughing. It was bad and to make it
worse the guy let us in and he was still laughing. Well he called me
and told me he was getting married and what not. Then follows with so
the other day I was going through some stuff at home and yeah I
totally found a blow dart gun. He was so proud I guess he brought it
ought and was like why did you hide this from me for so long. As
for Beus he is going to come on the cruise well if he has the money.
But he seems to be excited about it and isn´t to upset about the loss
of New York.

Anyways this week has been good I can´t complain were still working
hard. We were able to get into the local university which is a booming
little place it has about 60-80 students. Hahhaa I almost laughed when
they said it. When I was talking to one of the students they were like
yup one year we got up to 90 my response was did you throw a party?
The answer was no. But oh well. In all honesty though they all seemed
to get along with us which is good but we need to be able to use that
so we can start teaching them. They all have Christian backgrounds
which is good because it drops the annoying students who think they
are to smart to believe in God. But also this week I was preparing for
district meeting. It was all on Revelatory Process through the Book of
Mormon. Its interesting because it all gives things to help the
investigator. But here is some things I liked that we should do. It
talks about likening the scriptures to the investigators. Cause when
you liken it to them it creates a mental bridge that connects
understanding doctrine and living doctrine. This is something we need.
We need to not just understand what we teach but also live it. Second
thing that I liked was it talked about the Moronis Promise. It
encourages Missionaries and I would say members as well to continue to
take this challenge and restrengthen your testimony. So that you can
then take confidence in the promise when you have others do. So these
are things I want to extend you and the family make sure that you
apply the scriptures to yourself. And always look to improve your
testimony. Anyways love ya tons.

Love ya,

Elder Davis.

Letter 2-14-11 Happy Valentine's Day

Mom,

So yeah you heard correct I have been sick it has been not fun at all. I swear I never got sick before at the start of my mission. But then again at the start my snot wasn't freezing in my other areas. But story time. So Thursday night I think it was I was sleeping and I woke up and was sweating. As bad as that is it wasn't the worse of it all. I was also shivering cause I was so cold. My mind begins to race and I was like what the heck I swear only girls are supposed to have hot cold flashes. Yeah so for that night I thought for sure something was seriously going wrong. But of course everything was fine and I wound up alive and well.
Other then that some other things would be me calling Sister Simpson and asking her if she had a blow dryer I could have. She thought it was the funniest thing ever. Especially when I told her it was so I could do my hair. Then I was like no no Sister Simpson I am totally kidding its just so I can dry my shoes when they get wet. I would be lying if I didn't say my favorite person to make laugh is Sister Simpson she has by far one of the funniest laughs I have ever heard. The next thing was Tuesday I decided to get up and do a little exercise so I jumped up on a stationary bike that is way old school. So I begin tearing it up on this bike and like five minutes into sitting on it and pedaling. I was like yup this is why I hated the bicycling merit badge so bad so I got off the bike and decided that was for sure the worse idea I have ever had. I am still pretty positive that is what got me sick but haven't really gone to the doctors yet to find out. But other then that this week was uneventful I was slept from basically Thursday-Saturday.

I unfortunately missed out on leadership training. Which is always good for getting some good President Simpson quotes and what not. But also honestly its also a really good opportunity to learn and walk away being a better missionary. So I was bummed about that but lately I was thinking in Alma 7 verse 11 it says "He will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people." And then that made me think truly not just cause I was sick but how much Christ really undertook. I must say truly each day I am pretty amazed at the fact of how much of it you never know or even sometimes when you did know it and then you begin to think more on it you will always walk away amazed. At times its interesting you sit and you watch people drive by and you think if only you knew what we offer would you drive by with your middle finger up. But obviously they don't hence the reason we go knock on their doors. Joking aside though it made me really think do I know what I offer? Do I know that for my entire life I have been given the greatest gift imaginable. I am grateful though for being a member and especially grateful for being a missionary even when my snot freezes or eat it walking on the ice and look like a fool. But I hope you have fun this week happy Valentines day. Love ya tons.

Love ya,

Kyle

Snot sickles 2-8-11

Mom,

So lets see this week has been awesome. I have been to Main so much that the people at the border now know my name I feel so accepted lol. But its awesome. Minus when you get a new person who wants to prove a point and then stops us and has us open our car only to find a Book of Mormons and stuff like that. I always want to say if you open the hood you have to take one of everything there.
Anyways though this area is a lot of fun. Crazy thing though it has been by far the coldest place I have ever served in since being here. There has been 3 major snow storms since I have been here. I am getting less and less bad at driving on ice. And for the first time my snot froze that is right it froze just like dumb and dumber. Minus no one went pee on me to warm me up. It was so awesome though so normally its cold your nose just gets runny right well all of a sudden it just didn't get runny and like it felt weird when I would wiggle my nose so sure enough I checked and it was frozen I was so happy. But then once the excitement of that wore off I just got really cold and was like well this sucks now my toes are frozen and I my face if it were to get flicked it would hurt. So yeah its cold her and there is a lot of snow its so crazy. I am actually feeling a winter. Kind of like but glad it will be my last. Oh one last crazy of the snow storm so they come and plow are parking lot right. Well they didn't tell us to move our car so yeah they plowed it in. I forgot to take a picture but the snow around it was taller then the car it was crazy.

Side note I am glad that Colburn was able to use my major bad idea as a way to teach a lesson in EQ. It wasn't such a bad idea till President found out really it was funny. But then he found out and it wasn't so funny anymore just the way most of these ideas end up being.

More serious note. Things here are going good. We are continuing to work hard. And trying our best to find people. Thinks should start happening were both excited and have good feelings for the area. Which is always helpful when both are enthused to go work. Cause believe it or not some days its hard to go out and its nice to have some there pushing to get up and go to work. So things should be good here. Can't complain I am excited to see how things turn out.

Anyways I love ya tons got to go bye for now!

Love ya,

Kyle
