Letter recieved 3-28-2011

Mom,

So this week was good! It got pretty cold again which was super unexpected. Lets see last week Monday these members made us some Mexican food it was awesome. Of course all I did was talk about how much I love Mexican food and how this quite possibly made my entire day and may of made my week. Then we went on exchange Tuesday which was a lot of fun. The Zone Leaders are different in a lot of ways. You have Elder Van Meetren who is going home this transfer and Elder Hudson who has been out for 6 months and I was his first Zone Leader so it was cool to see how much he has grown. Other then that things here are going really well. The new funny is well taking Elder Jarvis's direction advice and him getting us lost and then instead of saying he didn't know where we are he just continued to sit in silence. Till I go Elder is this still the right way and he goes to be honest I don't know I actually realized a while ago I didn't know where we are. So it was awesome I was like are you serious. But other then that things have just been cold and really truthfully uneventful this week. Well there was also this incident when I said hello to a girl and she ended up tripping and falling I didn't laugh right away I helped her made sure she was alright and then when she got out of ear shot I am not going to lie I did laugh pretty hard. I mean there is nothing worse then falling in front of someone. It made me think of all the times that grandma fell.

So this week was fast Sunday and it was really good actually. There was a lot of awesome testimonies. Its one of the nice things about being in a small ward is the fact that well the people generally get up and bare some awesome testimonies. I mean especially since many of them are converts and are still new to the church. They don't use any of the Mormon lingo they don't use big terms just simple heart felt testimonies. But the Bishop got up and said something that on many occasions President has said. I think its just interesting to hear the same thing twice from different people. It was reassuring. But yet so simple its that The Lord doesn't expect us to be like others. Meaning we may think so and so may be a better Young Womens President or even maybe a better missionary for me. The comforting thing is that the Lord doesn't want us to compete he just wants us to be the best we can be, whether that the best Elder Kyle Davis, or the best Heatherlea Davis who is the Young Womens President. He only needs our will not our strengths and then when he has our will then from us he will produce miracles. So in closing the challenge is give to the Lord the only thing you can and that is submit your will to his will. Anyways I love ya and I will talk to ya next week.

Love,

Elder Davis.

Letter recieved 3-21-11

Mom,

What is up? So everything here is going really well. Lets start with the fact that its been raining like crazy here. Which always stinks because well as I mentioned I don't like rain. So recently I realized that my jacket would always get drenched then my entire body would be drenched in rain. So then I read and realized that is because my jacket is just water resistant so I realized after going to a store that there is water proof jackets. So I bought and it really has helped a lot I mean I am not getting wet anymore. Well at least my upper body. My shoes have kind of fallen apart so after about 4 hours in it my shoes get wet. But that is easier to deal with then your whole upper body being drenched and feeling gross.
So then Thursday comes and Elder Jarvis needed to call Sister Simpson and she goes well we will see you tomorrow. So I am like that is a far drive for President to make just to come to our Weekly Planning Session. So I decide to call the Zone Leaders and then tell me don't you know that Zone Conference is tomorrow. So we found out that super duper late glad we called otherwise we would of missed out on it and then missed out on some good funny moments. So the funny moment is me explaining the Ladder Syndrome and we used two examples the Mission Ladder and Real Life ladder and at the top of the real life one is prophet, And so he is talking to me and goes Elder Davis do you think you will ever be a prophet. I was like um most likely not. He goes well Elder Davis I don't want to burst your bubble but your probably not going to be a prophet. Not to be mean its just the odds are pretty slim. Now I was kind of thinking is this still cause of the Red Bull thing? Nah I am kidding we all good laugh and it was funny to watch President give the odds of it and stuff. So overall Zone Conference was good and the week had a lot of laughs.

So on a serious note Zone Conference was awesome President and Sister Simpson gave some great doctrinal training. Sister Simpson touched on Shiblon who was the son of Alma who went on the mission to the Zoramites and was faithful and diligent. She talked about how we should strive to have his same qualities so that we can have the same blessing he did and please other Father in Heaven like him. Then President talked a lot about integrity, And how having integrity on the mission will carry over to having integrity back at home. It was pretty good and then the Zone Leaders and Assistants talked about getting your investigators to church so overall it was really well done. Glad I was able to attend.
But this week we in class we talked about when Peter walked on water. Its an awesome scripture one the fact that Peter could muster the faith to do it, And then the part I like is he lost the faith and began to drown. Which is amazing. Because it shows me that one even though he walked daily with Savior he still had weaknesses and two my favorite part he says "Lord save me." And then it says immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand. It is amazing to me that truly the Savior will watch us struggle and try to get things on our own. But the minute we surrender our will to his and show humility and ask his help or ask for him to save us. You feel his presence you feel the burden be lifted and a sense of peace and safety. I am grateful for the Atonement and what it does for me and how it has helped me in my life. I do know that the minute I lower my pride and ask the Lord for help it is there. Satan has us convinced we either don't deserve the help or its better for us to not tell. Both are boggus. I have had both of those of the thought many a times. My advice is recognize the stupidity of it. Turn to the Savior in all you do and you will fine greater peace, happiness and safety in your life. I will end for now though.

Love ya,

Elder Davis.

Big Shout Out to President Simpson !

Mom,

So everything this week has been really good. We started off with going to district meeting which was just crazy. So it rained a lot on Monday and so Tuesday we come out and we were frozen in place. So if that is not bad enough we ran out of washer fluid. So driving to district meeting was pretty crazy. Lets just say the Lord blessed us with a lot of Semis driving by and splashing water on the windshield so we could then clean it.
Then Elder Jarvis was telling Elder Rogers that his lower stomach hurt. So Elder Rogers told him it could possibly be a hernia and that his intestines could fall out he could die in two minutes. So then poor Elder Jarvis thought for sure he was in trouble. So he called Sister Simpson and she told him it was probably just him straining his muscles since he started doing all those sit up and everything. He felt a lot better after that.
So we went on the rest of the week and continued to work in the annoying rain. President always says that to find success when knocking it starts with your attitude. And for the most part I am a pretty positive person or at least I think I am. Well then rain comes and well I just got quite because I can't really find anything nice to say. And sure enough those are my least productive days. He really is pretty prophetic.
Speaking of President. So last night I am getting numbers from the Sisters and I was getting ready to hang up and they go oh yeah Elder Davis President said to tell you that reads your blog. So everyone else that reads please welcome President Simpson. Hopefully he doesn't get upset for me writing this one. I don't blame him though I would want to keep tabs on me as well.

But a more serious note things with here have been going really well. Were still teaching Brother Greenlaw and he is doing well. I am amazed at his positive attitude. He always seems so up beat. Last week though we went there Monday and we ended the lesson soon you could tell he was in a lot of pain. Then we went back Saturday and he wasn't feeling very well. So it was really sad to see that. Hopefully things get better for him. So I was reading in Helaman 8: 14-15 so a quick catch up on this chapter. Nephi has just returned from teaching the people in the land North. Where he was rejected comes home to Zarahemla to find things not very good as well. So this leads to him praying and then chastising the people and the leaders. Which then goes to chapter 8 where he is teaching the corrupt judges. And particularly he is talking about Christ coming and how all the Prophets testified of him. And in 14-15 he says talking about Moses lifting the Brazen Serpent so shall the Son of Man be lifted. And that all that look on him shall live to that life which is eternal. Its interesting lets go to Moses so during this time there was some deadly serpents that were all around the people of Isreal and as long as they kept there eye on the Brazen Serpent they would live. In life there is more the same serpents that surround us. In recent events for me it was the Red Bull. But we cant be distracted by those things we must always keep our eyes on Christ. So my challenge is focus more on that which is important and don't pay attention to the serpents at your heels.

Love ya though,

Elder Davis.

letter recieved 3-7-11

Mom,

What is up? So today was an interesting start. Well lets just say Jarvis clogged the toilet and for some odd reason doesn't know how to use a toilet plunger and I had to go fix it I was well upset to say the least. But oh well life goes on. Another funny of the week me convincing him that if he does sit ups his back problems will go away as well as the baby in his stomach. So he goes your right dude I need to exercise I am committing to a hundred a day I was like wow that is alot man are you sure? He goes oh yeah so I jump in the shower come out to him sprawled on the floor as if he is dead. So I go Elder you ok he goes dude so when I hit 10 my body said no more. 20 oh boy. 30 yikes. 40 really? 50 I am close to dieing. 60 my vision gets cloudy. 70 things are getting really cloudy. 80 have to use my arms to get me up. 90 well I just had to break after that. Hahahah I was laughing so hard needless to say it took him a while to get up. Sometimes the kid can just say some of the funniest things.

But on a serious note! Good news we have a baptism coming up. Its so awesome so Friday we were at the bishops the day was long and well just knocking a lot. And really I was getting tired of this. Then a call comes and the bishop goes oh that is wonderful I will tell the missionaries now. So he tells us that Brother Greenlaw who is a members husband wants to be baptized. So we went over and taught him and extended the commitment and he said yes so he is getting baptized April 9th. He is an awesome person. But is a sad story as well. He and his wife both have cancer and they realize thinks aren't getting better. And they don't want to be separated. They told me we spent 50 years together that to much to just throw away with death. So they are doing this so they can be sealed together. Its so sad and awesome at the same time. I am super grateful though it taught me a lot more or less it added to my testimony of the importance of family. I am glad that you and dad always made sure to teach the importance of family and always made sure we relied and spent time with each other. One of the saddest things I see daily is families who really aren't families. I love ya guys thanks for always raising me knowing in the end I will always have my family.

Love ya,

Kyle.

P.s. dad congrats on the new job that is awesome!
